Joy has a background in Archaeology and Art History specialising in non-binary gender. She has worked in the field of learning centres (libraries and IT), teaching and health research before moving to her current position  in the Human Factors Engineering Team. She provides experiemental support to the Hi:DAVe and STARS  projects.

Joy also is interested research in the areas of gender, sexuality, gamification and the representation of the past. She is currently studying for a part-time PhD applying Human Factors methods to the sport of Roller Derby
